Recap of the Proflora Trade Show

Every two years we travel to South America to attend the biggest flower trade show, Proflora. We look for inspiration, new trends, and discover beautiful creations. And let’s face it, this is the best ‘smelling’ tradeshow you can visit. Proflora come to an end last week and had this year around 500 growers exhibiting from 16 countries and more than 5,000 visitors. This year, the event was held in Bogotá, the beautiful capital of Colombia.

Proflora had a special focus on sustainability and eco-friendly actions. Florverde, a Colombian environmental program lead the conversation on how the industry can reduce its negative impact on the environment while also benefiting thousands of communities and families around the farms. At iBuyFlowers we are committed to working towards a healthier planet and creating more value for the communities we are in contact with. That is why we only work with certified farms, under international quality standards, that ensure us that we are aligned with those who believe in our cause.

Each booth at Proflora has amazing floral creations sampling a lot of flower varieties. We meet with the farm owners we already work with to ensure a close collaboration and discuss new variety needs and trends, but we also meet with new farms, especially rose farms to prepare for Valentine’s Day.

This year we fell in love with a new tiny rose – and by tiny, we mean the size of your nail tiny. Another great discovery was the new variety of sunflowers, the beautiful Pro Cut White Nite. That color combined in bouquets is incredible, making them the perfect flower for every occasion.

We value the opportunity to meet face to face with the people we work with all year round, specially to thank them for all their hard work, discuss future flower demands from our customers, and commit to our joint purpose of bringing farm fresh flowers to our customers’ doorstep.

We are back at the office and ready to add more fabulous flowers. Our collection is growing!

We hope to see everyone again in 2021 in Ecuador!
