The journey, year by year

Every year brought a new challenge, a new milestone, and a reason to keep going.

2016

A broken system. One simple fix.

For decades, flowers traveled a long, slow road from farm to florist. They passed through importers, cold storage facilities, and wholesalers before arriving at the shop, days older and dollars more expensive than they needed to be. The idea behind iBuyFlowers was disarmingly simple: what if farms and florists just talked directly to each other? On August 10, 2016, iBuyFlowers was born. The first farms were signed in Ecuador. The first boxes were packed. A new kind of flower community was about to take root.

  • Founded August 10, 2016
  • First farms signed in Ecuador in October
  • Direct farm-to-florist model launched
  • Test shipments sent to Will in Dallas Texas in November, December 2016

2017

The first boxes ship. The first florists believe.

When the first commercial orders shipped in early 2017, something immediately stood out: florists were receiving flowers that still felt alive. Not flowers that had been sitting in a warehouse for four days, but flowers cut within the week, traveling direct from the farm. Word started spreading quietly between florists, the way good things do. By the end of the year, 37 farms from Ecuador, Colombia, the Netherlands, and the US were part of the network, and nearly 6,000 boxes had found their way to florists across the country. A community was beginning to form.

2018

Florists asked for more control. We built it.

Florists are creative people. They did not want to be told what would arrive in their box. They wanted to choose their stems, mix their varieties, and build their orders around their own vision. So iBuyFlowers built exactly that: the custom box. For the first time, a florist anywhere in the US could go online, pick exactly what they needed directly from the farm, and have it at their door within days. It was the kind of control that simply did not exist before. The community grew fast. By year's end, 56 farms were on the platform and annual volume had nearly tripled.

  • 16,090 boxes delivered
  • 56 farms in network

2019

Fresh flowers in every corner of the country.

The traditional flower supply chain had never truly served everyone equally. Florists in smaller markets or harder-to-reach states often paid more, waited longer, and received flowers in worse condition than their counterparts in major cities. iBuyFlowers was built to change that. By 2019 the platform was shipping to florists across all 50 states, from Texas to Alaska, giving every florist the same direct access to the same farms at the same fair prices. The network grew to 59 farms and more than 21,000 boxes shipped that year. The playing field was leveling.

  • 21,487 boxes delivered
  • All 50 states reached

2020

When the industry shook, we held steady.

The pandemic stopped the flower industry almost overnight. Weddings cancelled. Events disappeared. Wholesalers shuttered warehouses and parted ways with their teams. For many in the traditional supply chain, 2020 meant closing up and waiting it out. iBuyFlowers was built differently. Because flowers were still growing in the fields, because farms were still part of the network, and because the platform kept running, iBuyFlowers continued to ship. Florists who needed to keep their shops alive found a reliable partner. Farms that needed their sales to survive found an open channel. That is what a community does. It holds.

  • 27,266 boxes delivered
  • 75 farms in network
  • Platform stayed open and shipping

2021

Florists came back. And they brought everyone they knew.

When the world reopened, something beautiful happened. Florists remembered who had shown up for them. They came back to iBuyFlowers and they brought their friends, their peers, and their colleagues with them. Events returned. Weddings bloomed again. And because the farm network had stayed intact, the inventory was ready. The community that had been slowly built over five years suddenly had room to breathe and grow. In a single year, volume more than doubled to over 46,000 boxes. It was not just a comeback. It was proof that building something real, something rooted in genuine relationships between farms and florists, was always going to be worth it.

  • 46,002 boxes delivered
  • Volume more than doubled
  • 80 farms in network

2022

A better platform, and a community that showed up on camera.

2022 was the year iBuyFlowers invested in the experience it knew its florists deserved. The platform was rebuilt from the ground up with the florist at the center, faster to navigate, cleaner to use, and easier to shop from first click to checkout. It was the kind of upgrade that only makes sense when you have spent years listening closely to the people using your product every day. At the same time, the grower network crossed 100 farms for the first time. A number that felt like something. One hundred small businesses, family farms, and flower growers around the world now trusted iBuyFlowers as a real sales channel. The community on both sides was deepening.

  • 66,422 boxes delivered
  • 100+ farms milestone reached
  • Platform redesigned for florists
2022

2023

114 farms strong. The network had never been bigger.

By 2023 the iBuyFlowers grower network had become something genuinely rare: a direct, trusted connection between 114 farms in Ecuador, Colombia, the US, and the Netherlands and florists in every corner of America. Growers who had joined the platform in the early days were now growing alongside it, expanding their acreage, diversifying their varieties, and finding new customers they never would have reached through the traditional supply chain. On the florist side, markets like Texas, Chicago and New York were showing that direct buying was not a niche play but the new normal. The freshest flowers were winning, simply by being the freshest.

  • Record 114 farms
  • 65,406 boxes delivered
  • Ecuador, Colombia, US and Netherlands growers

2024

We put the florist at the center of everything.

Eight years of listening to florists had made one thing very clear: the platform had to work the way they work. Not the way a marketplace works, not the way a wholesaler works, but the way a florist thinks, plans, and shops. In 2024 iBuyFlowers made that shift deliberately and completely, rebuilding the experience from the ground up around the needs, the rhythms, and the creativity of the florist. That same year the platform delivered its 250,000th lifetime box, a number that represented not just a transaction but a quarter of a million moments where a florist got exactly what they needed, straight from the farm.

  • 250,000 lifetime boxes milestone
  • 69,764 boxes delivered

2025

Record numbers. And we still had our community's back.

2025 was the strongest year in iBuyFlowers history by every measure. A record Mother's Day. Sales days with over $100K became the new norm. A record 87,063 boxes shipped, 15 times the volume of 2017. But the number that meant the most was not on the sales report. When new tariff pressures hit the flower industry, most suppliers passed the added cost straight to their customers without hesitation. iBuyFlowers did not. The community had stood by the platform through years of growing pains. Protecting them when it counted was not a hard call. That is what this network has always been built on: fairness for the farm and for the florist, in good times and in harder ones.

  • 87,063 boxes — record year
  • $111,837 record sales day
  • 15x growth since 2017
  • Tariff impact absorbed for the community
2025

2026

Ten years in bloom. The community just keeps growing.

What started with one idea and a handful of farms in Ecuador has become the largest direct farm-to-florist network in the United States. 400,000 boxes. 108 active farms. Florists from coast to coast who order with confidence, receive flowers that are genuinely fresh, and pay prices that are genuinely fair. The next decade brings smarter tools, more flexible ordering, and a platform that keeps getting better at supporting the people who make the flower industry beautiful. The middleman is gone. The community is thriving. And the best flowers are still on their way.

  • 400,000+ lifetime boxes
  • 108 active farms
  • The largest direct network in the US
