At iBuyFlowers, we know that when you order flowers, whether for your shop or an event, you want them to last. Not all flowers are created equal, and not all supply chains are either.
One of the biggest differences between us and traditional wholesale suppliers? Freshness, and that translates directly to longer vase life.
Here’s why our farm-direct flowers outlast the rest.
We Skip the Middlemen, That Saves You 5–7 Days
In a traditional wholesale model, flowers take a long journey: from the farm to an importer, then to a wholesaler, and finally to your studio or storefront. By the time you get them, they’ve already lost a significant portion of their vase life by being handled multiple times, and spending days (sometimes weeks) in a cooler.
We’ve eliminated these unnecessary extra steps.
When you order from iBuyFlowers, your flowers are shipped directly from the farm to you, no importer, no warehouse, no unnecessary delays. This means you’re getting blooms that are on average 5 to 7 days fresher than what you’d find at a traditional wholesaler. That extra time can easily double the vase life, which can come in handy for so many different reasons. You have more time to sell the flowers. Feel comfortable stocking your retail cooler with our blooms, because you know they are not going to end up in the waste bucket. Our model also gives you more time to design big events. You can easily get your weekend event flowers delivered on a Monday before an event, giving you plenty of time to hydrate and design them.
Harvested at Peak Timing for Longevity
Our partner farms harvest flowers at the optimal stage, not too open, not too tight. Picking them at just the right moment helps ensure a longer blooming period once they arrive. We also recommend factoring in time during your design schedule to re-hydrate them and give them a little time to open until their full potential.
Even time of day matters when harvesting. Harvesting early in the morning or late in the evening helps the flowers retain moisture and reduces stem stress. Flowers cut during the heat of the day tend to struggle with hydration, shortening their lifespan.
Grown Under Ideal Conditions
Our farms use precision growing practices, from controlling temperature, humidity, light exposure, and fertilization, to produce hardier blooms with strong stems and long-lasting heads.
This level of care starts from day one. Certain flower varieties, like ranunculus or lisianthus, thrive only under very specific growing conditions. By sourcing directly from farms that specialize in these varieties, we ensure you receive flowers at their absolute best.
Cold Chain Integrity from Farm to Door
Flowers are sensitive. Even a few hours at the wrong temperature can drastically impact their lifespan. This is why we work closely with our logistics partner, FedEx Priority and Overnight, to maintain a controlled shipping environment.
We keep temperatures and humidity stable throughout the journey, avoiding both overheating and the kind of cold shock that can damage blooms or encourage fungal growth (like Botrytis). Our packaging is designed to protect your order every step of the way. Even the plane FedEx uses is refrigerated!
Post-Arrival Care Makes a Big Difference
Once your flowers arrive, simple care practices can extend their life even further:
- Use clean, sharp tools to trim stems.
- Sanitize vases and buckets with bleach or another floral-safe cleaner.
- Refresh water every 3-4 days.
- Re-cut stems by 1 inch at each water change.
- Use floral preservatives like Quick Dip to boost hydration and reduce bacterial buildup.
Quick Dip, in particular, is widely used by professional florists. It’s a hydration pretreatment that helps flowers start drinking immediately, especially important after being dry-packed and making the journey to your shop or studio.
The Bottom Line
Freshness isn’t just a perk, it’s a key part of flower quality. By cutting out the middle steps and shipping directly from the farm, we ensure your flowers show up fresher, open beautifully, and last longer.
That’s what sets iBuyFlowers apart, and it’s why florists, designers, and event pros trust us to deliver flowers that don’t just look great on day one, but stay beautiful for the long haul.
